Last night there was a young man murdered named Kendall Foster who was a Sophomore basketball player at Des Moines North High School. Kendall did not play for Kingdom Hoops but as many of you know the majority of the North High basketball players play here at Kingdom Hoops. As we concluded practice last night and the boys went over to their cell phones and found out the news there was an immediate dark cloud that fell over each North High teammate who not only called him a teammate but a friend.
This morning Chad Ryan (Head Coach at Des Moines North) as well as a one of Kendall’s teammates at North reached out to me asking if the Kingdom Hoops family would be willing to help raise the necessary funds for the family to cover the funeral costs and meet any other needs that the family will have during these difficult times. I immediately responded that we would do everything possible to help them reach their Go Fund Me goal of $5,000.00 to provide for the funeral expenses. Even though this tragedy may not directly affect Kingdom Hoops it does affect many of the young men and women that walk through our doors each week and as family we have a responsibility to do what we can to help shine the light of Christ even in the midst of great pain.
Chad Ryan has set up a Go Fund Me page for Kendall Foster’s family. Please prayerful consider making a $5, $10, $25, or $50 donation to the family. The high school and community are holding a candle light vigil at Des Moines North High School at 6:30pm. My prayer is that by the time they begin at 6:30pm that we have at least hit the goal of raising $5,000.00 for the family.
